The KKH spans the 806-kilometre-long (501 mi) distance between the China–Pakistan border and the town of Hasan Abdal. At Burhan Interchange near Hasan Abdal, the existing M1 motorway will intersect the N-35 at the Shah Maqsood Interchange. From there, access onwards to Islamabad and Lahore continues as part of the existing M1 and M2 motorways. Hasan Abdal will also be at intersection of the Eastern Alignment, and Western Alignment.
The planned upgrades to the 470-kilometre-long (290 mi) section between Hasan Abdal and Raikot of the Karakoram Highway over the next many years is officially referred to in Pakistan as the Karakoram Highway Phase 2 project.
Hazara Motoway CPEC

The M-15 Motorway, also known as the Hazara Motorway is a 180-kilometer controlled-access motorway in Pakistan. It links the Burhan Interchange near Hasan Abdal in the Punjab province with Haripur, Havelian, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Shinkiari, Battagram, and Thakot in the Hazara Division of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The project is divided into seven packages – the first four (from Burhan to Mansehra) were completed and inaugurated on 27 December 2017 and 18 November 2019, and the last three sections, from Maneshra to Thakot, were inaugurated on 29 July 2020.

The M-14 Motorway, also known as the Islamabad–Dera Ismail Khan Motorway and the Hakla–Yarik Motorway, is a four-lane north–south motorway in Pakistan. The 285-kilometre-long (177 mi) motorway is a part of the Western Alignment of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, and offers high speed road connections between the Islamabad-Rawalpindi metropolitan area, and the southern parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province around Dera Ismail Khan.
The motorway was originally planned to open at the end of 2018, but due to delays, was inaugurated on 5 January 2022.
